The “Sho” Goes On Dodgers Drop Giants 5-1

Fresh off his trip to the World Baseball Classic, Shohei Ohtani returned to the mound and helped lead the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 5–1 win over the San Francisco Giants.

Ohtani’s outing may not have been perfect, but it was certainly effective. The right-hander worked 4.1 innings, throwing 61 pitches with 34 strikes. He struck out four, walked two, allowed just one hit, and did not give up a run while touching 99.9 mph on the radar gun.

At the plate, the Dodgers provided plenty of support. Miguel Rojas, Freddie Freeman, Mookie Betts and Hyeseong Kim all contributed hits as Los Angeles built its lead.

The Dodgers bullpen continued its strong spring performance, keeping Giants hitters uncomfortable throughout the afternoon.

One unusual moment came in the seventh inning. With two outs and a runner on first, Alex Vesia entered the game and ended the inning without throwing a pitch, picking off Grant McCray at first base.

After the game, it was clear that having Ohtani back on the field brought a noticeable energy to the club.
