Early Hole Too Much for Dodgers in 7–2 Loss to White Sox

Hitting the diamond in an early afternoon game after playing the night before can test the mettle of any ball club — even one as talented as the defending champions. That appeared to be the case for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

After squashing the Seattle Mariners the night before, the Dodgers looked like a team that had not fully recovered from the quick turnaround.

Starting pitcher Justin Wrobleski turned in an outing he will likely want to forget. In 2.1 innings of work, “Wrobo” surrendered four hits, walked two, and allowed five runs. By the end of three innings, the Chicago White Sox had built a commanding 5–0 lead.

The Dodgers’ bats, so lively the night before, cooled considerably. Los Angeles did not get on the scoreboard until the sixth inning and managed to add one more run in the seventh.

Two defensive errors only added to the difficulties.

In the end, the Dodgers never found their rhythm and fell quietly, dropping the game 7–2.

The loss serves as a reminder that even championship clubs have their off days — especially when the schedule offers little time to catch their breath.
